Reader

Sam met her Kindergarten teacher today.  She has been really nervous about going to Kindergarten, but after today, she is super excited.  So excited that she decided to read Green Eggs and Ham to me tonight.  She’s been reading for a while, but she doesn’t ever like to read books before bed.  I guess that’s because we have always read to her, and she doesn’t want to flip it around.  I don’t know.

She did so well.  She only came to a few words that she didn’t already know.  Most she sounded out, even though she doesn’t like to do that.  I’m so proud of her!

I remember last fall when we went to Gatlinburg, we ate at a place called Dick’s.  It was pretty crude.  I remember telling Brian that we probably couldn’t come again because the walls were filled with things that I’m glad my girls couldn’t understand.  Now that Sam can read, I guess we have to be even more careful about where we go and what we expose her to.

It’s Official!

Sam lost her first tooth this morning!  She’s officially a big girl now.  (And I’m still not believing it!)

As I discovered last weekend, I knew her tooth was loose.  I hadn’t been wiggling it all week because I wasn’t quite ready for it to go.  I would ask her if it was still wiggly though.  I bought some material earlier in the week to make a Tooth Fairy Pillow.  I finished it last night and gave it to her this morning.  She was excited as I explained the process to her.  Then, as she was eating her last bite of breakfast, she bit down on it.  It must have really hurt, because she started crying and after examination, it was bleeding.  I asked if she was ready for me to pull it.

After some initial trepidation, she was brave and let me pull it out!  She’s been showing her holy smile to everyone today!  (And I’m glad I finished her tooth fairy pillow just in time!)

Things I don’t want to forget about Samantha right now:

  1. “What doing, Mommy? What doing?” She asks me this 720 times a day. That’s not an exaggeration. You do the math.
  2. She eats her lima beans first.
  3. “Sam-a-do it! Sam-a-do it!!”
  4. She loves to take turns patting and burping Ellie, and is sure to tell us when she spits up. “Ellie spill!”
  5. She loves to pour. Anything. Everything.
  6. She still loves to read.
